Following the announcement made on Friday 31st July by the First Welsh Minister Mark Drakeford, we are delighted to have been given the go ahead to reopen.
The Board of Trustees and Leisure Manager met within hours of the announcement and agreed on a phased timetable for the reopening of facilities at the Centre starting with Gym, Sports Hall and Community Studio areas on Monday 17th of August.
The Swimming Pool will hopefully reopen on the following Monday 24th August, provided that all the contract work is complete and commissioning of the new boilers and pumps are completed on schedule. We will keep this page updated.
All facilities, including the Gym and Swimming Pool will need to be booked in advance and numbers will be capped. This is necessary to abide by social distancing requirements. Safety of our customers and staff is of the utmost importance.
The phone lines will open on Thursday and Friday 13th & 14th August between 10 – 4pm and again on Saturday 15th August 9 – 1pm.
Telephone numbers are 01352 355100 / 355006
Bookings for the Swimming Pool will be taken from Thursday 20th August. Further information regarding the format sessions will take will be released in due course.

We are really looking forward to reopening our doors and welcoming you all back. Until then, please continue to take care and stay safe.
Here is an update just to let you know what has been going on during the closure.
We have been working very hard during the last three years to secure funding to replace the 50 year old boilers, without which the Centre would not be able to remain open. We have been successful in achieving this and would like to extend our thanks to Flintshire County Council and the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action (European Funding) who have both supported this project.
We are delighted to announce that this work started prior to lockdown, was temporarily suspended but resumed early May and is still ongoing.
We are sad to say “goodbye” to our Health Suite but unfortunately were left with no option due to the unacceptable condition of the concrete floor, 50 years had taken its’ toll and health and safety of our customers is our priority.
Please see below for a flavour of what has been going on during the past four months;
30 year old Jacuzzi dismantled during May 2020
Steam Room and Infrared Sauna also removed during May 2020
Health Suite totally cleared, ready for new concrete floor in June 2020
And this is how the concrete for the new floor was pumped into the Health Suite, where there’s a will there’s a way!!
Concrete being pumped into Health Suite floor/Plant Room ceiling void.
New steel fabricated ceiling installed to support new concrete Plantroom ceiling/Health Suite floor – July 2020.
Holywell Leisure Centre-Canolfan Hamdden Treffynnon has taken the difficult decision to close the Centre from Friday 20th March at 9.00pm. We owe a duty of care to our customers and staff where safety and wellbeing is paramount.
All facilities at the Leisure Centre including the Library and Ysgol Treffynnon will be closed until further notice, based on Government advice. Rosie’z Café is an independent facility and currently remains open – please continue to support them at this difficult time. We really appreciate your loyalty for our charitable venture which we see as the Hub of the Community and thank you for all the support you have shown and continue to show to our Charity.
We will review the situation every fortnight with a view to opening as soon as we can. #StaySafeHolywell #CommunitySpirit
